I don't think I could DO therapy without being "allowed" to take a break!
I am super attached to T, so I've never taken a "break" by missing sessions (until now). But there have been times when I've just needed to go and connect without having to work so hard, and times when I've just needed space between sessions to BE, and to not have to be processing and thinking and working all the time.
T trusts me to know when I need a break. I even take mini-breaks in the middle of sessions, by putting my head down and closing my eyes and letting myself drift away.
I think that allowing yourself to take a break when you need it is good self-care. Sometimes we just need time to catch our breath, and it's okay.
