I'm under the impression that my boyfriend (who I live with) buys/has a lotttt of stuff. Mainly, books, CDs, and DVDs are the problem. There are two giant boxes full of media in our living room that have still not been unpacked and sit next to an overflowing bookshelf and 2 full DVD racks that are half my height.

There's even more in our basement, and more boxes at his parents' home and still more that I've stored for him at my parents' home. We live on a very tight budget in a very small house, yet he often comes home with such purchases and justifies them saying they were on sale. I try to voice my objections a bit, but I feel like I am getting shrugged off and we can't really afford these things right now. If I 'catch him in the act', so to speak, and ask that he reconsiders a purchase while we are shopping, it seems to bring his mood down for the rest of the day. What can I do?
