I think what t's are doing that might be thinking that if a person is actively suicidal they need to be straight at the ER for safety reasons.

The brother said that they want that because with being on the phone, they're pretty helpless and feel that they might be wasting valuable time when the person should be getting safe first, talking later.

that's what he said. I'm really not sure because I've never really dealt with it.

I'm just sharing what brother told me. So, I'm guessing, it would be for person's safety first, liability second, or both equally?
