Just because the tattooist opens a set of disposable needles in front of you doesn't necessarily mean you can't get sick from Hepatitis B/C . The sterile needles become contaminated if the shaft in the tattoo gun where the needle slides through isn't sterilized as well. Either the shaft should be disposable or autoclaved for sterilization along with the needles.
