It seems that we are not that unique, Each of us have different stories to be sure, but their seems to be a common thread running through all of them.

We drank and drugged because we liked the effect it produced. It’s just that simple. We really liked the buzz. But here is the catch. Ain’t there always. We went to that well a bit too often, and over time, what was once a pleasure became a necessity.

We had to keep drinking and/or using just to preserve our sanity. Toward the end of our inexorable trip to the bottom, we couldn’t imagine life with it and we couldn’t imagine life without it. Some people call that the jumping off point.

I don’t buy for a moment that you don’t care about your future. We don’t find ourselves in places like this by not caring. You are here because you feel that sense of impending doom that we all felt. But like I said, we can’t imagine life without a good buzz on.

You are looking for something to change in your life. You may not know what you want to change, but the fun and games of active using is growing thin for you. That’s a good thing.
