To VAQUERALOCA,
I had depression (episodes within bipolar) & ADHD at the same time, so I understand how hard it is to get ANYTHING done (especially schoolwork, for me). I've been taking adderall (60mg) since October, and it has really helped me get my life back together (along with a mood stabilizer for the bipolar depression & mania). Are you taking meds right now?
Diet is also a HUGE factor; avoid sweets as much as possible, as well as things with preservatives/processed foods, & things like white flour or simple carbs that digest quickly & produce a spike & drop in blood sugar levels. I take TONS of fish oil, too, which REALLY helps with mental clarity & mood.
My therapist recommended concentration exercises like yoga, meditation, pilates....anything where you're focusing on your breathing or something similar can really train your brain to slow down and process things better. It's just like practicing reading or math -- the more you do it, the better you become, and the easier it is to do. (meditation, or the practice of clearing your mind of all thoughts, is SUPER hard for me, but just doing it for a minute or so can help slow down all of my racing, impulsive thoughts, and get me refocused).
All of this has worked for me, and I've gone down from 60mg to 10mg of Adderall in less than a month since I added the fish oil (it sounds crazy, but it's supported by research & many mainstream doctors as a beneficial health & mental health supplement).
