Think of something practical I can do about whatever I'm thinking about that is making me anxious; action on an issue lets me know I am not "helpless", my biggest anxiety bugaboo.
Another help is I figure out whether the anxiety is current or "future" and realize that future is only "possible" but so are a zillion other possibilities and what I do now can influence that future.
