I had a beetle in high school, got a great deal, fixed it up, loved it and it lasted. I had a lot of fun with mine and it was hilarious actually seeing people punching each other as went down the road. Remember this game? My niece will be driving in a few years and has been saving and working, this is what she wants, at the moment. It's out of her price point but what dreams are made of, as I said, at the moment.
