I've highlighted your last sentence, because I've spent thousands of dollars accommodating her. None of it has made a difference, and my good neighbor said the exact same thing to me last night. (I had come to this realization already.)
And about trees...When I moved into the house, I had beautiful hemlock pines bordering my entire back yard. I did not know it, but she had had all the branches that overlapped onto her yard cut off...all the way up the tall trees! The trees were already dying when I moved in and it cost me about $4,000 to have them cut down and removed!
