That's the worst when someone criticizes your feelings and gets you to start questioning them yourself! Emotional invalidation is one thing that I think probably all self-injurers (and many other people too) have in common. Someone makes us feel like our feelings aren't real, so we end up proving that we really do feel that way. Maybe just to prove it to ourselves.
