welcome to pc, tool!!! i am in agreement with your comments. AA saved my life too. literally. i couldn't have done it alone. in spite of some others's opinion, "The Promises" really do come true. i know this as truth. i went from hopelessness and doom to find a power greater than myself, whom i choose to call God. He answered my desperate prayer. by living the program i found hope, love, serenity. i found sobriety and the obsession was lifted. it was a true miracle. i found joy, serenity, selflessness and ways to improve everything in my way of thinking and living. to carry the message by reaching out to help others.
you mentioned being terrified of losing what you've gained. faith replaces fear. it sounds to me you are living that. just continue the path you're on. stay in today.
AA isn't necessarily the only way to achieve sobriety but for me it was my lifesaver and i too am so grateful. my life is filled with so much happiness and contentment.
thank you for this thread. i'm sure it can inspire others struggling with the throes of their alcoholic drinking, there is a "solution" may we always be a living example for those who come after us.
i continue to attend AA tho i am 21 years sober. may i always be vigilent. i have witnessed others who chose to turn their backs to what they had learned. my bgf did that. she found out too late she had taken her will back and the consequences. R.I.P. Mary Jane, age 40, mother of 5 wonderful children. devoted friend. so much to live for yet she saw only one way out. it didn't have to turn out that way.
