Ideally a mood stabilizer is all a person would need to control the bipolar. Lithium has worked well for many people, so it may be worth a try. I was on it for the first 2 years after my diagnosis. My mom has been on it since she was diagnosed (she was diagnosed when I was a child; I'm 35 now). Lamictal is better for me, but I suffer with depression most often. I have also started using a SAD lamp and this made a huge difference for me this past winter.

The med process is a very frustrating part of a BP diagnosis. What works for one person won't work for another and what works for me now may not continue to work 10 years from now. I hope you find a med combo that works well for you.
