SSI will take several months to get. at best....you've got about a 40% chance of being approved the first time, according to Social Security's numbers. I do know of one person who got it in six weeks, but he spent some time rounding up all his medical and psychiatric records before he went, so he could turn them in with his application, thus saving them the time and trouble of doing it.
