I'm still in the air on whether I have this personality disorder...yes, perfectionism is a characteristic of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. This is not to be confused with OCD which may have some overlapping features, but are entirely different disorders. There is some research to suggest that OCPD had a genetic predisposition, but environmental factors probably play a significant role. Most sufferers of OCPD came from authoritarian homes where strict rules were enforced with few rewards. Suffers also reported that one or both parents were cold and emotionally unavailable.

My parents were authoritarian and emotionally unavailable. My mother was an undiagnosed NPD/HPD/OCPD. My father is a DPD.
