Have you tried to get a summer job in your university area? How about trying to get hired at one of the national parks where you live on site?

If you can't work these things out for this summer, maybe you can spend the summer researching what is needed to set it up for next summer. At least you'll be able to see the future as you grind through these couple of uncomfortable months.
