I have found that shyness is usually a fear of rejection. If this is the case, then what works for me is to confront it - head on. Don't THINK! Just do. If you want to talk to her, go do it. Don't wonder if she wants to talk, don't worry about what "might happen", just go. If the initiative fails, then at least you had the courage to try.

The only way to overcome a fear of heights is to climb high. Without risk, there is no satisfaction. My step once said something to me that I go back to over and over again: The only way you fail is to never try.
