Hi Sparkle. Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I was raped a few years ago and pretty much fell apart. I went into this program in the hospital voluntarily. They only put you in a mental health unit if you are suicidal, a danger to someone else, or you go voluntarily.
I don't mean to give the impression that I am an angry person. But when we were there it got pretty intense and it was considered appropriate to go to "the room" if you ever needed to. Very rarely do I express any anger now. I would say I'm more of a passive person. I do believe that there are healthy ways to express your anger though. As long as you are not abusing someone else. I still have some triggers lurking about and imagine I always will. Ordinarily I deal with those and then put them away. But I have been known to spout off once in a while when I shouldn't.
The mental health unit in the hospitals that I have been a patient in are a very safe place to be. They have support groups to deal with problems, people you can talk to one-on-one, and your psychiatrist can keep an eye out for side effects of whatever meds he has you on. So, I hope that I answered your question. Yokus
