Okay, so for a long time, (around ten years now of off-and-on) my normal dreams get interrupted by flying dreams. For some reason, I remember my dreams almost every time I wake up, and so this becomes an issue.
So I could be dreaming anything... fishing with friends, working an awesome job... anything... all of a sudden, flight mode kicks in, and it's the most convoluted flight system I've ever even heard of... it's not like a Peter Pan system or anything where flight actually helps somehow. It's like... failed gravity. I'll find myself unaffected by gravity, and floating around, but I obviously am not free-floating. Varying moods are what direct my flight, and so as I panic, I wind up smashing into walls, the ground, or even more frighteningly, flying upwards in a frantic spiral, unable to slow down as I head into thinner and thinner air. I find myself flung at objects that could harm me, and flail frantically for a handhold to try and stop myself. Flung against the ground, I cling to the grass or a chair or anything that offers me anchor as my body tries to fly this way and that. It's obvious that the control is entirely mine... I'm not being poltergheisted or whatever. I'm just flying very very very badly. I can't turn off flight mode, and the whole dream becomes a panicked attempt to master my own ability to fly so I can benefit from it instead of just getting hurt by it. I wake up hyperventillating.
