1) If you reply to a thread, yes it will appear only on your post. (To illustrate, I'll click it on my own post and you'll see it on my reply and nobody elses)
2) If you start a thread, and click the icon it will appear on your post, and on the forum list with the title.

And you can always ask a moderator or admin to add one if you think it's necessary and the time has passed to add it yourself.
