I call it mythbusting....
1. What emotion (or emotions) are you feeling now?
2. Describe, in detail, the event or situation that gave rise to your emotion.
3. Describe your thoughts, and identify any distortions in your thinking
4. Refute the distortions
There are various thinking styles that are not healthy and commonly referred to as filters or distortions. Check this article out

As you work through the steps you will start to understand better the underlying emotion that would compel you to want a child as well as any distorations.
