You will *definitely* need to go in to see your doctor. Even if you can do a dipstick for white blood cells, you cannot culture it yourself. The doctor will need the culture results to make sure you're on the right antibiotic, as some antibiotics don't work on certain organisms. Also, there are other tests on the dipsticks done in professional laboratories that give the doctor additional information and clues as to what type of bacteria may be present so they can tailor the treatment. Be sure to tell your doctor (if they don't already know) of any other meds, particularly birth control meds. Antibiotics can interfere with other medications and may render your birth control pills useless. And definitely finish the antibiotics, even if you feel better. Stopping them too soon could cause the bacteria to become resistant to the antibiotic and you won't be able to use it again for that infection.
