It takes 20 minutes of eating before you will get any signals; I sometimes use my breakfast cereal flakes as "chips" and eat them one at a time when I'm just feeling like munching. They're good vitamins/fiber (Kellogg's Complete Wheat Bran Flakes) and large enough so I can fake myself out; they're both sweet and savory.

I think you have to come up with something else to do if you don't want to do the computer/eat thing? Can you change venues and get books/read in your bedroom or something? That's what I do, go to bed with a good book for my Nook reader and read for 2-3 hours at night. I try to force myself to go out, somewhere, each day; it only takes 22 minutes of "exercise" a day to be healthy so I go grocery shopping or to the library or some other shopping or chores each day and that's helping me a lot. Being "out and about" I call it; gives me new ideas and I see "new" things and it helps my mood as well as my body.
