GL, do you notice what you're missing? Anything GREEN! You gotta EAT leafy greens to BE a leafy green. (And what did I mean by that, lol)
Seriously, though -- you gotta start getting some veggies in. No jokes about spinach putting color in your cheeks, if you like green cheeks. Veggies really are important, because that's where a lot of the vitamins you need are gonna be. You also need some fruit. If you really can't manage to EAT fruit, DRINK some. 4 ounces of fruit juice is a serving of fruit. You need a minimum of three fruits a day. And three or more veggie servings. One half cup of cooked veggies, or one full cup of raw veggies -- that's a serving. So, by having one and a half cup of, say, spinach (with its green leaves), you've just eaten enough veggies for a day. A fairly large salad will also do. (Three cups.)
Not only are those things good for you, but veggies take up room in your stomach, which helps you feel less hungry, therefore less likely to snack or binge.
It's good to remember, too, that depriving yourself by refusing ice cream is fine, but you don't want to get to feeling as though you've "failed" by eating ice cream.
Here's a non-secret from me to you: when I was at my worst for anorexic eating, I still ate ice cream. Once a week, sometimes more. I just didn't eat much of it. (Obviously) It's better to say, "OK, I really want the ice cream, so I'll have some" than to say, "I failed because I ate ice cream -- so now I may as well eat EVERYTHING left in the kitchen."
So, what sorts of veggies do you like, GL?
