I am without such medication... everything I tried either didn't help at all or caused tremendous side effects. I am disabled 24 1/2 years now because of an industrial accident... and PTSD from nearly dying and the lack of treatment afterwards. 
I'm sorry to hear your PTSD has been brought to the forefront. It doesn't go away on it's own. Try not to be miffed with your MD, but seek out a therapist who can give you support and guidance in how to talk with MDs so you can find a med that might help. (I use herbs myself.)
