Our daughter had to stop seeing her fave psychologist a while back due to insurance. She has really missed him, and the in-network replacement just wasn't good for her. My daughter wouldn't talk and open up to her like she did with this other guy. With her behaviors continuing to escalate the pediatrician wants her to start seeing a psychiatrist again. Because of problems in the past with the ONLY local in-network therapist (social worker) and psychiatrist, the insurance has approved out-of-network care for her! Now this guy she (and I) like is a PhD, but there will also be an MD to consult with as well. Her beloved psychologist believes in play therapy for kids, as do I. The in-network person insisted the only way to go was talk therapy. For a small child?! I don't possibly see that working very often.

I can't help but wonder if the school social worker had something to do with this arrangement, or perhaps I am almost willing to place a bet one it. She has been trying to coax me in to some things and I picked up on something in talking to her last time that she was contemplating it. She was curiously questioning if what he did worked for me, if I liked it, this and that, would I consider this and that.

Hmmm, one other thought. Her appointments will be every two weeks. Coincidently, it will be on the weekends that I have my daughter. :-PPPPPPPPPP
