churches sometimes also helps, sometimes some of their congregation opens their homes to homeless for a week to a month so the person can get back on their feet by job hunting or signing up with Department of Human services.
Catholic Charities also helps with finances and food.
The red cross sometimes helps.
Various types of crisis centers can also help. All you need to do is walk in their door and say you need help and what you need.
