Lexi,
I don't know what you can take until you see your pdoc, but it seems that you've found some of the things that might work for you. Alot of the meds prescribed for ADD/ADHD are stimulants. Most people feel awake when taking them, but for those of us with ADD, for some reason they calm us down.
As for missing your appointment with your pdoc, visual reminders and timers/alarms seem to work the best for me. You could try setting alarm clocks as you get closer to the date and/or write the date/time in large numbers and hang it on the door, etc. You'll find what works for you and because you really want to get to the appointment, you may even want to have a friend call you before you're supposed to go to remind you.
Good luck! slow
