If only it were so easy. It could be, though, that the niece's behavior doesn't relate to the amount of time her parents spend with her. Maybe, but maybe not. Sometimes kids do everything they can to avoid spending time with their parents. Mandating a daily bike ride might not fix what's wrong but could even make the girl resentful or push her away. I agree a therapist is a good idea, but sometimes I wonder about their ability to figure this stuff out or help. It's worth a shot. Good luck to them.
