Who says you have to have empathy for them?

However... I have read some on Hitler's childhood and Stalin's too. No bed of roses for either. Do you think it might have had some effects? I know it is hard to think about, but what if they really were victims of child abuse too? How do you deal with that (assuming it is true)? Maybe you would try to end conditions that lead to abuse, rather than assigning condemning terms to people. The latter has been done for centuries, and it has not cured anything that I can see.
