A saga...not the one I feared, though.
I went to the new hospital nearby (6 miles to it, 3 miles to old one)... Was confused from the get go. I forgot the script MD gave me for chest xray. So after filling out the forms( SOB, possible pneumonia), I told them I was going out to get it. They had said if I had the script I would be taken straight in.
It wasn't in car so I drove home and back... 20 minutes.
When I got back they said I lost my place in line because I left. Ok...here's the script, let's do the xray. WEll, there was something about no one would read it tonight.. HUH? how do they know to treat me? Well, I'm not going through the ER (huh? I'm thinking, looks like an ER.) Ok, so once I get the xray they'll know if I need treatment. Yeah but something about that not happening.
I ended up at the financial desk. Check in had kept script, so I showed her doctors orders sheet... then a nurse and the guy from front came back to talk with me...and I became more confused. They had me in the system...now I'm thinking it was under the worker comp... even though Iwas trying to get them to take my BC/BS... yeah bet I would've gotten treatment then.
I told them I was too sick to understand and make decisions... I came because I'm short of breath and I have chest pains... they put some device on finger and said I'm breathing fine.
Ok. How do you get the xray to my doctor if it isn't read? (shes in another county, btw) Oh, they'll read it over a West (the old hospital)... but not tonight. I couldn't get the exit door opened by myself..and struggled with it a minute or two before someone offered to help...
I left, nearly in tears... I told them I need treatment, I'm too confused to figure it all out.
Ok, so on the way home, I figure I';ll go by the old hospital (west)... but the guard at the door stopped me, asked if I was a patient..and I asked how busy are they and he said extremely...(they had ppl stacked on each other practically, and the wagon just drove up too) I can't do that scene... the other ER wasn't that crowded but enough, and bright lights and two tv's blaring (noise) and how to sit I"m in chronic pain.
Once again, my best wasn't good enough. and I missed Grey's anatomy too!
