We keep alot of photos of her around and after a while we were able to watch some videos of her. It does get easier with time. You could consider fostering a dog from a local SPCA before you decide on another dog. I also read recently that there are often dogs from military families that need temporary homes. Hugs to you
In 2001, I lost an 11-month old pug puppy to the worst seizuring disorder our veterinarian says he has ever tried to treat. I still cannot watch the videos we took of her.

Some people say a pet that dies will somehow bring its owner a new companion, a pet to take its place, a pet that needs love and attention as much as the grieving owner needs to love and care for it. I believe that happened with our little puppy.

Time heals. My personal experience has been that in time, and it usually takes quite a long time, the raw grief I feel at first seems to eventually fade and all I remember are memories of the very best times we shared.
