Im sorry I upset you. And yes I know what Im talking about. I had DID myself and am now an integrated person, I also work in the mental health field so I do know about having to make that hard decision about what kind of alters my clients have and what the diagnostics say about what kind of alters there are with all the different disorders.
You say you were diagnosed some time ago with your first therapist/psychiatrist. ok so you have nothing to lose do you. and you know whats what.
so again the therapy process is the same regardless of what kind of alters a person has.
now you know how and why your alters were created and remember having those feelings and dark times. so now you the aware self can learn how to deal with them and learn how to cope in the present.
in one of your posts you asked what else can you do.. you can also have another psych eval done so that the updated results can reflect what alters with DID are by todays standards. with todays standards on your files mental health providers in the usa have to go according to that.
good luck to you. you have come this far you can continue to heal on the same therapy program regardless of diagnosis and therapists opinions so go for it and Im pulling for you.
