Here's a pet peeve of mine though:

At 58 I constantly hear two things that are completely opposite each other. One is that I'll probably never work again and I shouldn't expect employers to take me seriously because of my age. The other is that I'll have to work into my 80s because of state of the U.S. economy.

I wish people would just be quiet if they can't say something positive on this. It gets old, all the free advice.
