My therapist and I do EMDR. As I understand the theory behind it, the alternating impulses allows the brain to stay focused on the present while examining past trauma. Probably an over simplifacation, but... In any event, whatever we're doing, it seems to be working. I know i feel like a different person - MOST of the time. Sure there are times when "the terrors" come back, but those visits are far shorter and longer in between. And we've delved into some pretty heavy stuf using EMDR. I'm sure we're FAR from done - been at it 4 years - but I gotta say, whatever it is, the results for me have been startling. I'm doing things this summer that I would have NEVER been able to do even 6 months ago. And FEELING in a way I thought would never happen for me.

Not sure if all that makes sense, but - I know what I'm trying to say. LOL!!
