my dogs eat avoderm oven baken lamb & for treats get veggies & fruits. two have severe allergies so it's fruits & stuff for them so as to minimize ear infections. they love the apples, carrots, strawberries, frozen bananas, blueberries, avacados, mangos, pretty much whatever i give them...

one raids the vegetable garden for the tomatoes. strips the plants. he obsesses over the maters...i maybe get 2 maters out of all that i grow each summer..he picks the rest. my garden looks like a prison yard! fencing, bells etc all in a pathetic attempt to keep him out of it...not evben close to working.

i buy a lot of the fruit when it is in season & cheap & then freeze it & hand it out to them...they just love it. it's better for them. also i give them soup bones..uncooked which i get from the store. once they have finished it..i freeze it with filled peanut butter a few times & then dispose of it...good for their teeth.

good quality dog food (or cat) is so important. so many people feed their pets crap & wonder why their pets get sick or have no energy. i have used avoderm foods for 8 years on all my dogs from chessies, to setters to now bassets & have been pleased...& this includes dogs recently into rescue from horrible conditions. & puppies to seniors. i like the way my guys coats are & the energy levels ..plus during the big recalls a few years ago there were no recalls of their products which i consider important.

i don't buy any treat products made in china. nor do i try to give my guys any cookies or stuff unless it is a very rare once in a while thing...so much of the processed treats are crap & filled with sugar...

they also rarely get table scraps because if you are feeding a good quality dog food you don't need to feed them that. the one gets a supplement of SOD boswellia for his back since he has a history of a back injury 7 the other takes pheno barbital for a brain tumor but that's it except for some prednisone for allergies when bad (other than claritan/benadryl).

all 3 are rescues...2 from puppy mill /pet stores & one from a back yard breeder.
