UGH,I always spray myself with insect repellant, but yesterday, after getting home from lunch & a movie, I took my friend into my back yard to see the 2 alpacas I am babysitting & letting eat my grass in my back yard. I had long socks on & long pants on & really didn't think about chiggers at that time of evening.

By about 2am, I noticed a bit of uncomfortable feeling on my legs & by 5am decided to take a shower. I just started to see the bites show up at that time......well, today, I am counting about 100 bites at least. I am trying to keep the itch relief spray on my legs & body, but have to say, it's driving me a bit more crazy than I already am.

Insects & I don't get along very well.....one night I was eaten alive by the mosquitoes.....yesterday, the chiggers. I usually scratch the itches so bad I end up with scabs at every bite, but I'm trying not to do that this time. Sometimes taking a shower is my only real relief, but can't stay in the shower all day.

I was just getting to the point where I could work around the house after the fracture in my back healed....but moving around in the heat makes the bites itch that much worse........grrrr......wish I hadn't forgotten about the insect repellent. I need to keep in on a chain around my neck.....or maybe keep those repellent bracelets around my ankles. Of course, the grass in my back yard is to tall, it's not just under my feet.

I got rid of the ants in my house with those ant bait things....sat them everywhere the ants were & they haven't been back since......so no more squished ants or ants crawling in my ear.

I do keep finding the ticks, especially after we have the wet weather....they lessen up in the hotter dry weather....but we need the rain, so just have to keep a look out for them. Haven't been bitten by a tick....but the dang chiggers eat me alive.....every year....you would think I would learn by now Chigger bites seem to be the worse bites & itch worse than any other kind of bite I have ever had. They get that little blister in the center & stuff they bite with seems to inject the worse itchy feeling. NO, THEY DON'T stay under the skin after they bite.....that myth has been proven WRONG......but they definitely itch the worst of all bug bites I have ever had.

Ah, such is the price one pays to live in the beautiful country
