Of course there is a licensure process, for mental health care providers; it's important that everyone meets certain guidelines.

Each state can adjust some of their requirements, within the guidelines of the APA. Here are the two main ones for FL, btw. http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=Ch0491/ch0491.htm

Here is the actual form for FL application. http://www.doh.state.fl.us/Mqa/psychology/ap_licensure.pdf#search='DOH%2FMQA%2FPY%20APP%2FREV.%204%2F02' You will see on page 4 it asks if you had or been treated for mental illness within the previous 5 years. But if you haven't even realized what is involved in becoming a psychologist, you have plenty of time to become well, imo!

Good wishes!
