ECT is still quite controversial. I would hope it would only be considered as a last resort.

Bipolar disorder is one of the more difficult diagnoses to stablize (medicinally.)IMO. Please continue to support your son, helping him to realize that jumping from one method to another might only put him farther behind on his path to healing.
