Silence is the secret to sanity. ~Astrid Alauda

So I found this quote and I was wondering what everyone thought about. I personally am a very silent person, I was dubbed selective mute in English class, and I find while this is true, too much silence can hurt oneself mentally, socially etc.

How much silence is a good thing? Obviously never speaking to anyone probably isn't the best but talking to much is also not great. Do you think a quiet person can learn to speak up and vice versa?

Also do you think silence is a good way for people to deal with their emotions?

Thoughts?
