Bless your heart. It's "normal" that you feel the way you do because you've never had any "closure" to this. Of course I'm not saying that you should forget it (the abuse) because I don't believe anyone can do that -- but you need to learn how to go on from here -- how to cope with it, WITHOUT it screwing up your life. And a good therapist will help you do that.

Have you ever addressed the child abuse with any other counselor? If so, what did they tell you?

I don't think you REALLY want to be numb -- that isn't living. That's only existing! We MUST be able to feel our emotions --- whether they're happy or sad, if we're human, we're going to feel them. When I start feeling numb, that's a clue to me that I'm getting very depressed again ~ and I can't live like that.

Sometimes our emotions are painful -- but remember: Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. We're GONNA hurt -- but when we start suffering we know that we're not coping very well with life. That's when we need counseling. I hope you're able to get into therapy soon.

God bless & take care.. Hugs, Lee

Thanks for this!
