I had good results with Effexor, but I went off it when I was DX'd bipolar (not recommended). Cymbalta is supposed to be similar...they are regarded as being effective for severe depression. They are SSNRI's, they limit the reuptake of norepinephrine as well as seratonin, different critters than Prozac or Paxil.
