Oh, I'm so sorry! I know what you are going through; I had my appendix burst when I was 52 (spring of 2003) and had cipro and flagyl and it turned out I was allergic to the flagyl so they took me off all the antibiotics and I got an infection wandering around creating havoc for 5 months until I found the right antibiotic. I was on others that wrecked things. I'd already been through menopause but it gets worse, not better after menopause; yes there's a "freedom" being through but all your previously-known/understood-by-you hormones change/go away and you get "new" stuff you had no clue about. Having other difficulties at that time doesn't help the future problems and being able to figure out if you are/are not getting "better" versus what's "normal" for aging.
I'm glad you have a supportive boyfriend and are able to distract and "enjoy" life as much as possible as you work to heal your bladder problems. Just hang on to your hat and don't get too discouraged if other things start going "wrong" or changing around you or if you don't heal as completely as you thought you should, etc.
