He is ready but even though he is, try not to push him to hard to get everything just right. Often times once they learn a skill they stop doing it. Example: He uses the potty a few days in a row and then resorts going in his diaper again for a week.
Just stay constant with him.
The daycare my child goes to uses a sticker chart to help them see they are accomplishing something. They also use reward with jelly beans when the child sits on the potty. However, that doesn't work for every child because my son learned that as long as he sits on the potty he gets a jelly bean. He said he had to go every 5 minutes and we ended up going through a whole bag of jelly beans in one night.
