I drink a ton of coffee, I know it's bad for me but I love my coffee, although it doesn't seem to effect me like that. I get plenty of depression and mania, and then I seem to get lovely mixed episode at least a few times a year.

I did read tho that males with Bipolar 1 can be more prone to the mania side than depression, females more prone to the depression side. I am guessing that would have something to do with hormones and maybe social/family pressures. I am sure females can experience this as well tho.

I think it really just depends on the individual, Bipolar is so individual and effects us all differently. I read all the time how mania is so fun, euphoric, and people love it. For me mania in the first phase is great, however it quickly becomes so severe is feels more like a nightmare, too fast, too agitated, too confused, too low functioning and then psychosis rears its ugly head, not exactly fun.

I do get mania just as much as I go to depression.
