when that happens with me I try 2 things... one I see if there is someone else inside that they will talk to and give more information to. two, I just do things they might like to do and see if they start talking... we color, I am never without Mr Bubble bubble bath... I have also taken them out and let them pick out a stuffed toy to help comfort them.
