Hiya,

I'm with Omers, I let a couple of my others pick out something nice. For the two little girls, it was a shirt. For the older guy it was a beach towel. One of the girls really doesn't like me, but when I told her we were going to pick out a shirt just for her she was so excited screaming, I want purple, I want purple! That opened the doorway to conversation. When I wore the shirt for her it helped the relationship that much more. It's hard to show them we like them. For instance, the one that doesn't like me her name is little tara (she pronounces her name tear-a, I pronounce my name Tar-a). She doesn't like me because she doesn't think I believe her about the abuse. In all honesty I do, she just doesn't think I do enough (talk enough about it or acknowledge it enough) to really validate her. It's little things that make her feel like I like her. I think once she feels I like her she can open up her mind to the idea of me believing her.

Baby steps.

Love and hugs,
Tara
Thanks for this!
