Well, I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money, but it seems to me that if I was being sued over nonpayment of something, that any money should go towards that instead of taking a trip to South Carolina. I'd just end up in worse financial shape and be more stressed.

Or you could use some of the S.C. money to buy an interview outfit to help get yourself in a "looking for a job" frame of mind. I found a really nice, in-style suit and shirt at Goodwill for a total of $14 and I feel extra spiffy in it.
