A cold sore is more than just a boo boo. It carries a stigma as being herpes even though different than genital. Still contagious. Also, those sores can be large and painful and take a looong time to heal. They would definitely keep me from going out on dates. It is great that you were a stand up person and "apologized". But it has to be because you truly feel you were wrong. Not because you want to "one up" this guy. Maturity equals honesty and authenticity.
