there are antianxiety meds that are benzodiazepines that work immediately to stem your anxiety but they are addicting.. you can talk to your doc about buspar, which is not addicting but works to treat anxiety. it is also on the $4 med list at walmart. it worked great to treat my anxiety. i worked with a T to learn coping skills and was eventually able to get off the med.
