My email started about 6 months into my therapy. Not sure how that came up. I think I may have been upset about something, and just sent an email without even asking her. She was elated! Her words were something like, "YAY! Now I see that you are a writer. I love it! Keep them coming."
My therapy was struggling really bad and I was to the point of giving up ~ thinking that therapy was just not right for me. I am sure that was probably what I wrote about in that first email.
She does respond to almost every email. If the content is a bit too complicated, she will acknowledge that she received it, and then tell me that she would prefer to talk about it in our next session. She allows me to call her if I don't feel that I can wait, but I have only called her twice in the past 16 months. I don't do well with phone calls.
Luckily for me, I am the only client that emails her to process. She is in private practice (part time) so this makes it wonderful for me! I don't have to worry so much that she is being bombarded with too many clients sending her emails. If that were the case, I don't think she would be able to respond to me in such detail like she does.
